Comparison

Ipamorelin vs Sermorelin

Ipamorelin and Sermorelin are separate research compounds. This page sets what our catalogue and the laboratory certificates state about each one side by side: identifiers, formula, molecular weight, chain length, form and storage. It describes the materials, not what they do, and carries no use guidance.

What differs

  • Chain length: Ipamorelin has 5 residues and Sermorelin has 29 residues.
  • Molecular weight: Ipamorelin is 711.9 g/mol and Sermorelin is 3,357.9 g/mol. Sermorelin is the largest of the two.
  • Each has its own CAS registry number (Ipamorelin: 170851-70-4 and Sermorelin: 86168-78-7), which is how a chemical supplier tells them apart on paper.
  • Their molecular formulas differ: C38H49N9O5 for Ipamorelin and C149H246N44O42S for Sermorelin.

What each one is

Ipamorelin

A pentapeptide agonist at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor. Notable in the literature for selectivity: it releases growth hormone in pituitary assays with far less effect on cortisol and prolactin than the earlier secretagogues, which makes it a cleaner tool for isolating the GHSR-1a pathway. See Ipamorelin.

Sermorelin

The first twenty-nine residues of growth hormone releasing hormone, which is the whole of its activity at the GHRH receptor. Used in pituitary somatotroph assays and as the reference agonist against which the longer-acting GHRH analogues are compared. See Sermorelin.

Common questions

Are Ipamorelin and Sermorelin the same compound?

No. They are separate compounds with separate CAS registry numbers: 170851-70-4 for Ipamorelin and 86168-78-7 for Sermorelin. They are sold as separate items and certified separately.

Which is the larger molecule, Ipamorelin or Sermorelin?

Sermorelin, at 3,357.9 g/mol. Ipamorelin is 711.9 g/mol.

Is there a certificate of analysis for Ipamorelin and Sermorelin?

Ipamorelin has 2 current certificates and Sermorelin has 1 current certificate in the testing library, each linked to the laboratory's own file.

Does this page say what Ipamorelin and Sermorelin are used for?

No. It compares the materials as chemicals: identifiers, formula, weight, chain length, form and storage. Everything here is sold for laboratory research use only, and the site publishes no use guidance.
