Peptides sit in a useful gap. Small molecules are blunt and proteins are hard to define. A chain of a few dozen amino acids can be specified exactly, synthesised to a known purity, and still bind one target and not its neighbors.

Every lot ships with this trace, the mass spec, and the water content. The certificate of analysis is on the product page before you buy, not after you ask.
Worth understanding, because it explains the price. A four-residue peptide and a forty-four-residue peptide are not the same product with a different label.
Solid-phase synthesis. The chain is anchored to a resin bead and grown from the C-terminus up, one amino acid per cycle, each one coupled, capped and washed. A forty-residue peptide is forty of those cycles, which is most of why it costs what it does.
Acid takes the finished chain off the bead and strips the side-chain protecting groups at the same time. What drops out is crude: the peptide you wanted, plus the ones that missed a coupling somewhere along the way.
Preparative reversed-phase HPLC pulls the product away from the deletion sequences and truncations. Fractions get cut and re-run until an analytical injection comes back as a single dominant peak.

No. Every price is visible without one, and you can check out without creating anything. An account only exists so you can see past orders, re-order a line you liked, and pull the certificate for a lot you bought two years ago.
Because a certificate can be copied and a batch number can be typed. In May 2026 the FDA cited an upstream supplier for relabelling material under a new batch number and changing both the manufacturing date and the retest date without supporting data. A certificate inherits whatever the tier above it claimed. A named, registered facility can be checked independently.
